CAOHEKOU town is subordinate to Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, Benxi City, Liaoning Province. It is located in the south of Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, bordering Caohe town in the East, tongyuanbao town of Dandong City in the south, LIANSHANGUAN town in the West and Xiamatang town of Nanfen District in the north. It covers an area of 197.14 square kilometers. By the end of 2018, the registered residence of the population was 21213.

In 1956, CAOHEKOU town was built. In 1958, the town changed into a commune. In 1980, CAOHEKOU Manchu town was restored. In 1989, after Benxi county was renamed Benxi Manchu Autonomous County, CAOHEKOU Manchu town was renamed CAOHEKOU town. As of June 2020, CAOHEKOU town has jurisdiction over 4 communities and 5 administrative villages, and the people's Government of CAOHEKOU town is located in Zhennan community.

In 2018, there were 17 industrial enterprises in CAOHEKOU Town, including 1 industrial enterprise above Designated Size and 40 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

The terrain of CAOHEKOU town is high in the north and low in the south. The terrain belongs to the hilly area of Eastern Liaoning, generally at an altitude of 272 meters. The highest point is at the back of Xuanling, 455m above sea level; the lowest point is at mangcaodianzi, 211m above sea level.
