Its total area is 133 square kilometers. In late 2018, there were 24283 registered residence in Wan Jialing town.

Wanjialing town was named after a family surnamed Wan who lived in lingshang. In 1961, Wanjialing commune was established. In July 1983, the commune was transformed into a township. In April 1985, the town was changed. As of June 2020, Wanjialing town has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages.

In 2018, Wanjialing town has 4 industrial enterprises and 19 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
