Dongling town

Dongling Town, located in the east of Huian County, Quanzhou City, is the economic and cultural center of Huidong, with 18 village committees. A total of 54 natural villages are among the top 100 cities and towns in Fujian Province. In 2018, they were selected as the top ten most beautiful coastal areas in Fujian.

In 1997, Dongqiao town was established in the north of Dongling town. In 2012, Dongling was selected as the site of Huian Dagang Bay International Airport. In 2011, Quanzhou Municipal government announced the establishment of Fujian Huidong Industrial Zone in Dongling town. Queshi group, Huike food group and Huidong construction engineering group are all well-known enterprises in China.

In 2018, the town's economy reached 4 billion 920 million yuan, and it was listed as the most powerful 1000 strong town in Chinese mainland in the 15 years of GDP economy in Fujian province.

Historical evolution

Dongling town is located in the east of the county, adjacent to Jingfeng Township in the East, tuzhai town in the west, Longtan port in the south, opposite Shanxia Township, Houlong Township, Shanyao Township and Shanyao saltworks across the sea in the north, gangzihai in the southeast, and Chongwu Peninsula, and Wangchuan town in the Northwest. It covers an area of 61.1 square kilometers. Huiyi highway runs through the territory. The town government is located in Dongling street.

In the Song Dynasty, it belonged to Chongshan township. In the Yuan Dynasty, it belonged to yanshouli, anrenli and wenlingli of Wenzhi township. In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to huangkengpu, meizhuangpu, jizhuangpu and shanqianpu. During the period of the Republic of China, Dongling township was set up, under the jurisdiction of 12 Bao.

In September 1949, the third district was set up, under the jurisdiction of 21 townships (including Jingfeng Township and Xiaoyi township).

In June 1952, 14 townships were set up, and the fourth district was set up in Jingfeng. Donghu Township came from Wangchuan, and 13 townships were under the jurisdiction. In August of the same year, two townships, Xiliang and Dongqiao, were abolished, with jurisdiction over 11 townships.

In October 1955, Dongling township was changed into a town system. From Jingfeng district to Xihu, Yanshou, Pengcheng and other three townships, it has jurisdiction over 14 townships. In 1956, it merged districts and townships, and set up Dongling District, with jurisdiction over eight townships, including Jingfeng and Xiaoyi peninsula.

In 1958, Dongling township was set up, with 7 associations and 41 branches; Dongqiao Township with 6 associations, 19 branches and 151 production teams; Jingfeng Township with 6 associations, 15 branches and 216 production teams; Xiaoyi Township with 3 associations, 4 branches and 125 production teams. Since then, Dongling and Dongqiao have been merged into Dongling Township, with 14 branches and 207 production teams under its jurisdiction. Jingfeng and Xiaoyi merged into Jingfeng township. In September, Dongling township was transformed into a management area of Feiyue people's commune, with 18 production teams under its jurisdiction.

In September 1961, Dongling people's commune was established by analyzing the small commune, which has 31 production teams and 300 production teams.

In 1962, the dacqiu brigade was set up, with a total of 32 brigades under its jurisdiction.

In October 1984, the people's Government of Dongling township was set up. At the same time, five brigades including Panhu, Sancun, hudaitou, Guanling and Xiaoqiu were analyzed. After changing their names, Zeng brigade became Houjian brigade and Yutou brigade became yutoushan brigade.

Meaning of place names

Dongling Street (formerly known as donglingguan) was the puling land in the east of Hui'an County in ancient times, so it was named Dongling street. Because bandits often robbed here in ancient times, it was once called donglingguan. In the late Qing Dynasty, marquis Zhang of dapuwei village opened Pufang here. Later, villagers moved here one after another to build houses, open shops and do business, gradually forming a street, which was renamed Dongling street, and it is still in use today.
