Xitan Township
Xitan Township, belonging to Menyuan Hui Autonomous County, Haibei Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai Province, is located in the middle of the county, with quankou town in the East, Malian Township across Haomen River in the south, Beishan Township and Haomen town in the west, and canine teeth of Sunan County in Gansu Province in the North of lenglongleng, 7 kilometers away from Haomen town. The area is 65.16 square kilometers. In 2018, 10446 people registered residence.
In 1938, it was a district called Changfeng township. In 1949, it was changed into Xitan township. In 1956, it was changed into Xitan Township under the jurisdiction of the county. In 1958, it belonged to the red flag people's commune. In 1962, Xitan Township People's commune was established. In 1966, Dongshan village was merged into Xitan Township People's commune. In 1982, Dawan, Yahe and Dazhuang were assigned to Hantai people's commune. In 1984, it was restored to Xitan township. As of October 2019, Xitan countryside has jurisdiction over 10 administrative villages.
In 2018, Xitan township has 64 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.

As of October 2019, Xitan village has 10 administrative villages, including dongmachang village, bianmazhang village, Baojiwan village, Dongshan village, Laolongwan village, Nalong village, shangxitan village, xiaxitan village, ximachang village and Yatou village.

Xitan township is located at the foot of Lenglongling, Qilian Mountain, with complex terrain. The average altitude is 2950 meters. The northern Qilian foothills towering peaks, the southern Daban mountain high and steep, of which Laolongwan, shangxitan, bianmozhang, Baojiwan, Dongshan five villages are located in the Laoshan area, the terrain is ups and downs; dongmachang, ximachang, Nalong, xiaxitan, Yatou five villages are located in the plain area, the terrain is flat, the village is neat and uniform.

In 2011, Xitan Township had 43295 mu of arable land, 4 mu per capita, 290000 mu of grassland and 6541 mu of woodland. Crops are mainly highland barley, potatoes, green fodder and vegetables. The planting area of crops is 43295 mu, including 13300 mu of highland barley, 1700 mu of potatoes (including 260 mu of potato covered with plastic film), 1000 mu of green fodder, 1550 mu of vegetables (including 800 mu of small podded beans). Animal husbandry mainly focuses on raising livestock and local chickens.
