Shilipu Town, belonging to Kongtong District, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, got its name because it is 40 li away from Pingliang City. Shilipu town is located in the east of Kongtong District, Pingliang City, adjacent to Baishui town in the East, Dazhai Township in the south, Liuhu Township in the west, Xianglian Township and Caofeng town in the north. The administrative area of the town is 127.4 square kilometers.

In 1958, Jinghe commune was established. In 1961, it was renamed Shilipu commune. In 1983, Shilipu township was established. In 1984, the town of Shilipu was established.
