Nanfang town

Nanfang Town, belonging to Liquan County, Xianyang City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northwest of Liquan County, adjacent to Chigan town in the East, Shitan town in the south, Qian county and Yongshou County in the west, and Jinghe River in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 7.2 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 19.2 km, with a total area of 131.52 square kilometers.

As of June 2020, Nanfang town has 14 administrative villages. As of 2018, Nanfang town had 26369 registered residence population. In 2011, the total agricultural output value of Nanfang town reached 229 million yuan, the total industrial output value reached 64 million yuan, and the total social commodity sales reached 32 million yuan.

Historical evolution

In the middle of the Ming Dynasty, there was a market in the south of the ditch, which was initially called Nanfang post. Later, it gradually developed agricultural and sideline products and was a distribution center of local and special mountain goods. Since the establishment of the town in the late Qing Dynasty, it has been named Nanfang town.

In 1638, Nanfang town belonged to Shixiao township.

In 1935, Nanfang town was located in District 6.

In 1952, it merged with Chixia town.

In November 1958, Chinan district was abolished and changed into Nanfang commune, with jurisdiction over Nanfang and beipai.

In 1984, it was changed into Nanfang town.

In February 2002, Nanfang town was merged with beipai Township and beipai office was set up.

In 2006, beipai office was cancelled.

Nanfang town has undulating mountains and crisscross gullies. Wufeng mountain, wamiao mountain and Baicao mountain are distributed from west to East in the middle. The highest point is at the top of Wufeng mountain; the lowest point is at the bottom of Zhuangtou River, with an altitude of 830 meters.
