Xinchang Town, located in the south of Pudong New Area, is adjacent to Xuanqiao town in the East, Fengcheng town in Fengxian District in the south, hangtou town in the West and Zhoupu town in the north. History of construction
At the end of Tang Dynasty and the beginning of Song Dynasty, there were people living in Xinchang area, including villages and scattered salt farms. In the tenth year of Tang Tianbao (751), the Tang Dynasty decided to set up Huating county from the northeast of Haiyan County, the east of Jiaxing county and the south of Kunshan county. At that time, Xinchang area was under the jurisdiction of Huating County of Wujun county. In the Northern Song Dynasty, Xinchang area was subordinate to Huating County, Jiaxing Prefecture (formerly Xiuzhou) under the rule of liangzhelutong. During the Jianyan period of the Southern Song Dynasty (1127-1130), Xinchang Town set up two Zhejiang salt transportation departments, and the subordinate relationship remained unchanged. In 1291, Shanghai county was set up in the northeast of Huating county and the East and west sides of Huangpu River. At that time, Shanghai county governed five townships, namely Gaochang, Beiting, Haiyu, Xinjiang and Changren. Xinchang is under the jurisdiction of Shanghai county magistrate Township until Nanhui Jianxian. In 1726, the Qing government established Nanhui County, which belonged to the majority of Changren township. The original Changren township was divided into upper and lower townships, while the original Baotou, Qudu and Tu buildings were retained below the township level. Xinchang district is under the jurisdiction of the 19th Rural Social Security Bureau of Nanhui County, Songjiang Prefecture, Jiangsu Province. In 1909, the first year of Xuantong in the Qing Dynasty, Nanhui County implemented township autonomy. In March 1984, Xinchang Township People's government was established. In May 1994, the original system of Xinchang Town and Xinchang township was abolished and Xinchang Town was established. In August 2001, Nanhui County was removed and Xinchang Town was subordinate to Nanhui District of Shanghai.
