Linjiang Town
Linjiang town is located in Zhangshu City in the middle of Jiangxi Province. It is an important town in Hexi of Zhangshu City. It is adjacent to Zhangshu, Xinyu, Gao'an and Xingan counties and cities, and connected with Zhoushang, Zhangjiashan and other six towns. Zhejiang Jiangxi railway, Zhangyi highway, Qinggao highway, linsan highway and Jiangxi Guangdong Expressway pass through the territory. The town is prosperous with a large number of regular floating population. It is the cultural, economic and commercial center of Hexi in Zhangshu City. It is listed in the development plan of key small towns by Yichun region and Jiangxi Province.
Linjiang town was listed as a national key town in 2004, a provincial health town in 2006, and a famous historical and cultural town in Jiangxi Province in 2007. In January 2019, it will be selected as the seventh batch of famous historical and cultural towns in China. In October 2019, Linjiang town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".
Historical evolution
Linjiang has been a town for more than 1370 years since it was founded in the eighth year of Wude in the Tang Dynasty. It was once the seat of the army, the road and the government in history. In the Ming Dynasty, Linjiang was listed as one of the 33 major industrial and commercial tax towns in China. In history, Linjiang has developed commerce and trade and convenient transportation. It is historically known as "a place of four routes". As a political, economic and cultural center at that time, the construction of Linjiang Town reached a considerable scale. According to historical records, there are 10 gates in the old city. The urban area is divided into 9 lanes and 6 compartments, with 30 streets and 31 lanes. It is said that "30000 households in the city and 8000 smoke outside the city" were at their peak. The prosperous economy and splendid culture have attracted a large number of scholars to give lectures, meet friends and visit famous places. There are still a large number of cultural relics and historic buildings in the province. According to Qingjiang county annals by Tongzhi of the Qing Dynasty, Linjiang belonged to the southwest of Yangzhou. "The spring and Autumn Period belonged to Wu, Yue and the Warring States period to Chu. Qin Dynasty abolished feudalism and established prefectures and counties. Linjiang, formerly known as Xiaotan, was granted here by Xiao Li, Marquis of Wu Ping at the beginning of Liang Tianjian (about 510 A.D.) in the Southern Dynasty. It was named after his surname. Xiaotan was the town in the eighth year of Wude (625 A.D.). In 938 ad, Xiaotan town was upgraded to Qingjiang county. Jianan and Xiude townships of Gao'an and chongxue townships of Xingan in Jizhou were designated. It was under the jurisdiction of Qingjiang county. It was not under the jurisdiction of Zhili Town, but under the jurisdiction of Jianan and Xiude townships of Gao'an. In the third year of Chunhua of Song Dynasty (992 AD), Linjiang army was set up and Xiaotan was taken as the military rule. Since then, Linjiang gradually replaced the old name of Xiaotan. In the 41st year of Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty (1562 AD), Huxi fenshou Taoist department was established in Linjiang. In 1911, Xuantong government abolished its organizational system. From the Song Dynasty to the end of the Qing Dynasty, Linjiang was the seat of the army, the road and the government for 920 years, and the seat of daoshu for 108 years. In 1950, Qingjiang County moved to Zhangshu Town, and Linjiang County ruled the city for 1013 years. In 1988, Qingjiang county was set up as a city, and Linjiang town was subordinate to Zhangshu City. So far, Linjiang town has experienced 1364 years.
