Fengle town
Fengle town belongs to Zhongxiang City, Hubei Province. It is named fengle because the Fengle river runs through the Han River. Fengle is one of the four ancient towns in Zhongxiang City. It is adjacent to Yangzi town in the south, Changshou town in the East, Liushui town in Yicheng city in the north, Huji town and phosphate mine town across the river in the West and 49 km away from Zhongxiang City in the southeast.
Fengle town has a total area of 196.42 square kilometers (2017). As of the end of 2014, it has 40 administrative villages and 2 communities with a total population of 63692 (2017).
Fengle town is an important fireworks production base in Hubei Province, known as the "hometown of fireworks in Jingchu". In 2014, the total industrial and agricultural output value of fengle town reached 3.07685 billion yuan.
Historical evolution
In the Ming Dynasty, a post was set up here. According to the records of the Ming Dynasty, "irrigation fields are very wide, so it's named because of its abundance.". Also, "fengle post, 60 miles north of Zhongxiang County, reaches the boundary of Yicheng County, Xiangyang Prefecture.". In the Qing Dynasty, a city was set up. According to the unified annals of the Qing Dynasty, "fengle River, located in the north of Zhongxiang County, originated from Dahongshan (now Yicheng) in Jingshan County, and reached fengle post in Zhongxiang County in the south. In December 1947, the troops of Jianghan military region liberated fengle at one stroke, and the patriotic and democratic government of fengle District of Zhongbei county was established. In June 1948, fengle was divided into Hongshan county and Zhongxiang County in July of the next year. In December 1950, it was changed into the second district. In January 1952, the people's Government of the twelfth district was established in the county, which assigned Lushi, Jinpian and Yinan townships of the second district to the jurisdiction of the twelfth district. In January 1954, it was changed into fengle District Office, which was the agency of the county government. In March 1955, Zhongshankou district (formerly the 12th district) was abolished, and Lushi, Jinchuan and Yinan townships were assigned to fengle. In September 1958, the people's commune was established and the district was changed into a commune. In May 1961, the people's commune system was adjusted, and the Fengle district office system was restored; in January 1968, the Revolutionary Committee was established in fengle. In November 1975, the organization was reformed and the districts were merged. The three communes of Changshou, Banqiao and Tangquan in fengle district were divided into Changshou people's commune, and fengle people's commune was under the jurisdiction of fengle, Daji, Heji and Lushi. In January 1981, the name of the Revolutionary Committee was abolished and changed to the Management Committee; in February 1984, the people's commune was abolished and changed to a district. In October 1987, fengle district was abolished and fengle town and Lushi Township were established; in 1995, Lushi township was renamed Lushi town. In March 2001, fengle town and Lushi town merged into fengle town, which is under the jurisdiction of Zhongxiang City.
