Donghai town is a town under the jurisdiction of Qidong City, Nantong City, Jiangsu Province. Donghai township was established in 1957, the commune was changed in 1958, and the township was restored in 1983. It is located in the southeast of the city, adjacent to the Yellow Sea in the East, 17.7 km away from the city government. In the town, there are north-south Donghui line, Donghe line G328 Ninghai line, east-west new road connecting Xinzao town and Xin'an Town, Wuxiao River in the West and Central River in the south. It has jurisdiction over 12 village committees, including Donghai Town, Tianhe Town, Gongle Town, Xinzao Town, Daixiang Town, Dezi Town, Chengzi Town, Dongyu Town, Fuzi Town, lvken Town, xingken town and Xingwang town. Agriculture is dominated by planting and breeding, producing corn, cotton, beans, etc. Offshore fishing industry is developed. Historical evolution

The original xingken township was reclaimed in 1965 and named Binhai xingken office. In 1969, Huanghai farm was merged into xingken. In the spring of 1972, it was renamed xingken farm. In January 1981, the system was changed into xingken commune. In 1983, it was changed into township. The township government was stationed in xingken town. The township name takes the meaning of prosperity after reclamation.

The former Donghai Township covers an area of 29.23 square kilometers, with 30500 mu of arable land. The township government is located in Xinzao town. In 1957, the five townships of Donghai, Aimin, Shaofeng, Daixiang and Xiangfeng were merged into Donghai township. In 1958, Donghai people's commune was established. In 1983, the commune was changed into township. It has jurisdiction over 18 villages and 261 villager groups.

In 2005, Donghai town included xingken Township, which was merged in 1992, and meihua and Xinghong villages, which were originally designated in 2001.

In September 2008, Xin'an town and Donghai town were abolished and merged to establish a new Donghai town. The town government was stationed in Xin'an market town.

According to historical records, Xin'an town has a history of more than 100 years. In October 1961, Xin'an people's commune was established. Xin'an people's commune was formed by the amalgamation of the former North of Huiping Township, the south of Zhongyang River (now Xianzhong village and Jinxiu Village) and the former South of Dafeng township (now Jianmin village, Yunxiang village, Zhonghui village and the former Xinyao village and Qunzhong Village). In 1969, during the cultural revolution, the Revolutionary Committee of Xin'an people's commune was established. In 1972, the Revolutionary Committee of the commune was abolished and the Management Committee of Xin'an people's commune was established. In 1983, the commune was changed into a township. In December 1994, Xin'an township was established.

In December 1999, with the approval of Qidong Municipal People's government, Nantong Municipal People's government and Jiangsu Provincial People's government, the township was removed to build a town and the system of town governing village was implemented.
