The main crops are wheat, soybean, corn and rice. In 1992, the total output value of township enterprises was 13.78 million yuan.

In June 1987, seven villages in Tongjiang Town, fengle village and Yongsheng Village in Sancun Township and Shengli village in Xiangyang Township were merged to form suburban villages. The whole area of Chengjiao Township belongs to the alluvial plain of Songhua River with fertile soil. The total area of the township is 614 square kilometers. The main crops are wheat, soybean, corn and rice. In 1992, the total output value of township enterprises was 13.78 million yuan. The township has jurisdiction over 11 villages, including Xinwei, Xinhua, Xinfeng, Xingguang, Xinfa, Xinyuan, Xingzhong, fengle, Yongsheng, Shengli and Xinhui. At the end of 1992, the total population of the township was 9491. The township government is located in Xinwei village.
