Hongan county is a key town in China. Located in the southwest of the county. It is adjacent to Yongjiahe Town on the East, Ercheng town and Mulan Township, Huangpi District, Wuhan City on the west, Baliwan town and miersi town on the south, and Chengguan town on the north. It covers an area of 152 square kilometers (2017). The resident population was 45138 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 43 administrative villages. After 1949, Fenghuang Township, Gaoqiao District, Gaoqiao rural Guidance Group, Yonghong commune, Gaoqiao commune and Gaoqiao District Revolutionary Committee were established successively. In 1984, it was changed into Gaoqiao District, with four townships under its jurisdiction. In 1987, the district was withdrawn and the township was merged into Zhandian town and gaoqiaohe township. In 1996, Zhandian town covers an area of 85 square kilometers and has a population of 35000. It has jurisdiction over Wujiawan, kaijiawan, dongjiawan, zhanjiawan, yuejiagang, yujiabian, wangdewan, xiayouwan, Zhandian, heyouwan, Changfeng, louzishi, Wangjiafan, gengjiatian, shitouwan, ancestral temple, xiyangzhai, miaozuiwan, erfangwan, guanmutang, Longwangshan, zhanjiatang, dongjiatian, silingpu, shitouwan Gaoqiaohe Township covers an area of 65 square kilometers and has a population of 27000. In 1999, Zhandian town and gaoqiaohe Township were abolished and Gaoqiao Town was merged. Gaoqiao is located in the southwest of Hong'an county. In the East, it faces Yonghe town across the river, and in the west, it borders Ercheng town and Taer town of Huangpi county. It is adjacent to Bali Town and Mier town in the South and Chengguan town in the north. It spans 114 ° 29 ′ - 114 ° 37 ′ E and 31 ° 05 ′ - 31 ° 14 ′ n. Zhandian, the seat of the town government, is 15 kilometers north of the county and 18 kilometers south of Baliwan railway station.

Gaoqiao Town is mostly hilly area, with a small number of flat land on both sides of Gaoqiao River and doushui river. The terrain is higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast. Biaozi mountain, 6 km southwest of Zhandian, is the highest with an altitude of 207 meters. Cuijiatian, 6 km southeast of miaozui Bay, is the lowest with an altitude of 40 meters.

It has a north subtropical climate with an average temperature of 16.7 ℃. The average temperature is 3.3 ℃ in winter and 29.5 ℃ in summer. The frost free period is about 238 days. The annual average rainfall is 1131 mm, mainly concentrated in May, June and July, accounting for about 60% of the annual rainfall. Gaoqiao Town River: pour water from north to south, flowing through the eastern side of the town mirror a section of about 19 km. Gaoqiao River, the only river in the town, originates from zhangbeishan village of Ercheng Town, with a total length of 14.5 km. It flows through Gaoqiao Town from northwest to Southeast and flows into daoshui. There are also 12 seasonal rivers, 9 of which flow into the river and 3 into the river.

History and culture

Gaoqiao Town is the hometown of 58 generals including former president Li Xiannian and former Vice Premier Chen Xilian,

Gaoqiao Town is one of the old Soviet areas with glorious revolutionary tradition. During the first Civil Revolutionary War, the Agrarian Revolutionary War, and the Anti Japanese War, it was the center of revolutionary activities in the border areas of southern and neighboring counties.

In the winter of 1923, Comrade Wang Jian set up the first night school for peasants in the sixth village of Wangxing, calling on the peasants to start revolution.

In June 1930, the county of pi'anan was established here, forming a situation of armed separatism of workers and peasants on the border.

In September 1931, the first Congress of workers, peasants and soldiers of Penan county was held at Dai's ancestral hall in miaozui Bay. The Soviet District of Penan county was officially established, and Comrade Li Xiannian was the chairman of the county's Soviet.

In September 1938, Dai Kemin, Huang Zhongshan and other comrades developed the party organization in miaozui Bay and established the first party branch in the southern part of the county.
