Xinmin Town
Xinmin Town, subordinate to Qianwei County, Leshan City, Sichuan Province, is located at the southeast end of Qianwei County in the lower reaches of Minjiang River. It is adjacent to yuebo Township, Pingqiao Township and Baima Township in Yibin County of Yibin City in the East, Jianban Township in Muchuan County in the south, Xiaogu town and tielu Township in the west, Daxing Township and longkong town in the north. It is also the contiguous zone of Qianwei, Yibin and Muchuan counties. It is 28.9 kilometers away from the county, covering an area of 106 square kilometers. In 2017, the total population of Xinmin Town was 18388. By 2019, it has 26 administrative villages and 1 community.
In 2017, there were 40 enterprises in Xinmin Town, with 357 employees, including 11 industrial enterprises and one above scale.
In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Xinmin Town.
Historical evolution
Xinmin Town was called duwu Township in ancient times, and later Qianwei county was divided into 48 townships. Duwu township was renamed Maliuchang because there were many willows along the river.
In 1934, Maliuchang was renamed Huai'an town.
In the thirtieth year of the Republic of China (1941), the town was cut down and the township was changed, and it was renamed Xinmin Township in the meaning of the new three people's principles.
In June 1951, Xinmin Township was divided into Xinmin Town (only under the jurisdiction of Chang town), Shihe Township, Fuxing Township, Ciyun Township and Wuxi township. On December 5, 1955, Xixiang was merged into Xiaogu township.
In April 1956, Xinmin Town was merged with Shihe, Fuxing, Ciyun and Zhongxin townships to establish Xinmin Township (Jianban Township under Qianwei administration is divided into Wuxing Township and Zhongxin Township, and Wuxing township has been assigned to Muchuan county).
In October 1958, Xinmin Township was renamed Xinmin people's commune.
In July 1961, Xinmin commune was divided into Xinmin commune, Fuxing commune, Ciyun commune and Zhongxin commune (in November 1981, Fuxing commune was renamed Tianba commune and Zhongxin commune was renamed Longxi commune).
In February 1984, Xinmin commune was renamed Xinmin Township.
In November 1989, Xinmin Township was transformed into Xinmin Town.
In September 1992, the three townships of Tianba, Ciyun and Longxi were abolished and merged into Xinmin Town.

In 2015, Xinmin Town had 193 villager groups in 26 villages including Banqiao, Tuping, Xintang, Liangping, Yanmen, Tianxing, Liujia, Guanghua, Shengli, Gongtang, Banzhu, Jintian, Gaodong, Yutai, Xinyun, Yungu, Wutong, Guanyin, Liangfeng, Jinfeng, rocket, Shizi, Zhongxin, Hongyan, nongrong, Ma'ershan, and 11 resident groups in 1 community of Maliuchang.

In December 2019, the people's Government of Sichuan Province decided to abolish Xinmin Town. Yungu village, Yutai village, Gaodong village, Wutong village, Guanyin village, Jinfeng Village, Xinyun village of Xinmin Town, as well as groups 1-2, Anle village, Huaping village, Sanxi village, Renyi village, Liquan village and Ciyun village of Gongping Township belong to Daxing Town, while central village, Hongyan village, Shizi Village, nongrong village, rocket village, Tianxing village and Liujia village of Xinmin Town belong to Daxing town The administrative areas of Wuyi village and Tongyi village in Xiaogu town are under the jurisdiction of tielu Town, and the administrative areas of Maliuchang community, Banqiao Village, Tuping village, Xintang village, Jintian village, Liangping village, Yanmen village, Shengli village, Gongtang village, Banzhu village, Guanghua village, Liangfeng village and Ma'ershan village in Xinmin Town are under the jurisdiction of Xiaogu town.

The topography of Xinmin Town is characterized by flat dam, hills and mountains, mainly hills. The terrain is bounded by the Minjiang River. The north of the river is flat, hilly and valley, which is lower than the mountainous area in the south of the Yangtze River.
hydrology
In Xinmin Town, the Minjiang River flows through the town for about 10 kilometers, forming an alluvial flat dam on the north bank. It starts from Yanmen mountain mouth in the West and ends at the foot of dahe'ao mountain in Banqiao in the East. It is about 7 km long from east to west and 2 km wide from north to south. It is a long and narrow alluvial soil.
