Longtan Town, subordinate to Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County of Chongqing, is located in the east of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, bordering Mawang town in the East, Xiushan Tujia and Miao Autonomous County in the south, Banxi town in the West and Tushi Township in the north. It is 33km away from the government of Youyang Tujia and Miao Autonomous County, with a total area of 366 square kilometers.
Since the Shuhan Dynasty, Longtan town has been the seat of the county magistrate, the inspector and the prefectural assistant successively; in 1983, Longtan commune was changed into Longtan town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in Longtan town was 80766. As of June 2020, Longtan town has two communities and 20 administrative villages, and the people's Government of Longtan town is located in Zhaozhuang Avenue.
The main food crops in Longtan town are rice and corn; the main animal husbandry is raising pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry. In 2018, there were 75 industrial enterprises in Longtan Town, including 5 Enterprises above Designated Size and 31 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
History of construction
Since the Shu Han Dynasty, it has been the seat of the county magistrate, the inspector and the prefectural assistant successively.
From Song Dynasty to Qing Dynasty, it was ruled by chieftains.
In 1935, Longtan town was established
In July 1957, Longtan District was changed into Longtan commune.
In 1983, Longtan commune was changed into Longtan town.
In July 2001, Bohai Township, Longdong Township, Qinghua Township, mutang Township and kuzhu Township were merged into Longtan town.
In December 2010, Jiangfeng township was merged into Longtan town.
