Longtan Town, subordinate to Fuling District of Chongqing, is located in the southwest edge of Fuling District, bordering Tongle Township in the East, lengshuiguan Township in Nanchuan District in the south, Dashun Township in the West and Qingyang Town in the north. It is 41 km away from Fuling District government, with a total area of 129.15 square kilometers.
In the Ming Dynasty, Longtan town was located in linshili, Fuzhou; in July 1992, longtanba Town, Xincun town and Datong town were merged into Longtan town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population in Longtan town was 46147. As of June 2020, Longtan town has two communities and 20 administrative villages under its jurisdiction, and the town people's government is located at No. 11, Jianshe West Road.

History of construction
In the Ming Dynasty, it belonged to linshili, Fuzhou.
In the Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the changtanli of Fuzhou; in the late Qing Dynasty, it belonged to the third district of the prefecture, with Longtan Township.
In 1931, Longtan Township was changed into Longtan town. In 1942, Longtan town was established as Chongxing township.
At the beginning of 1950, Longtan town was changed into Longtan Township.
In May 1982, Chongxing township was renamed Xincun township.
In March 1985, Longtan Township was replaced by longtanba town.
In July 1992, longtanba Town, Xincun Township and Datong Township were merged into Longtan town.
