SuPu town is located in the hilly Valley in the east of Hongdong County, 18 kilometers away from the county. It is adjacent to Guxian County in the East, Guangshengsi town in the north, Chengguan town in the west, Guluo village and Quting town in the south. The town government is located in Subao village.

SuPu town is the largest town in the east of Hongdong County, with 19 village committees and 79 natural villages. In the early years of the Qing Dynasty, it was the organizational system of the town. Before the cooperation, it was the residence of the Second District Office of Hongdong county. After the abolition of the district system in 1955, it became the residence of the government of Su Bao township. When the people's commune was established in 1958, it was called Dongfanghong commune. In 1961, the eastern part of the commune was designated as Su Bao commune. It was changed into a town in 1984.

The terrain of the town is high in the East and low in the west, with mountainous and hilly areas in the north and hilly areas in the south. Honganjian river runs through it from east to west, forming a long and narrow valley basin. Most of the villages are located on both sides of Jianhe river. Honggu highway runs from west to east along the North Bank of Jianhe river. Since 1958, water conservancy has made great progress, including the construction of Zeyuan canal, Yuejin canal, Huoquan water crossing Jianhe river and other projects. The Dongfeng canal, completed in 1977, runs through the town from north to south. The inverted siphon of honganjian River built in Su Pu area is erected on 171 stone bridges. The main river bridge has 10 holes, 17 meters in height, 20 meters in span, 1450 meters in total length and 48 meters in head pressure. It looks like a long dragon across the Jian River, which is very spectacular.

In the aspect of forestry, Dongfeng forest farm has 50000 mu of forest land, most of which are newly built young forests. Guxian, Shucun and other villages are rich in apples, persimmons and apricots. Three villages in northeast mountainous area have broad natural grazing slopes, which are suitable for the development of animal husbandry.

In the town, there is a county run middle school, a town run hospital and a health center in each village.
