In March 1949, democratic Street was established; in August 1959, democratic branch of Sujiatun commune was established; in November 1978, democratic commune was changed into democratic Street. At the end of 2011, the total population of Minzhu street was 37872. As of June 2020, Minzhu street has jurisdiction over 13 communities and 3 administrative villages, and its sub district office is located at No. 50, Rose Street, Renzi Road community.
