History and culture
The origin of place names
Yanghua was called anshanwei in ancient times. There are Dongwei, Xiwei, Nanwei and Beiwei, which are called anshanji. Tracing back to the history of Yanghua Town, it was originally a lake mouth on the West Bank of Cangji lake. Fishermen had been fishing in Cangji lake for a long time to avoid the wind and live. Therefore, it is said that "thousands of nets are exposed to the sun and thousands of lights are lit at night". With the development of fisheries, business flourished, businessmen set up beaches, people gathered, and market business gradually flourished. In the Wanli period of Ming Dynasty, Yu Wenwei, the county magistrate of Suqian County, approved the establishment of yongxingji on the West Bank of Cangji lake, which was subordinate to Pizhou, Huai'an Prefecture. In 1860, yongxingji built a Polder in the four Zhou Dynasty. There were three gates, the east gate, the South gate and the west gate, with inscriptions on them. The east gate said Ziqi Yaolin, the west gate said ruiyingmaling, and the South Gate said jinhuangdaiyun. It is also said that when Qianlong went down to the south of the Yangtze River to take a boat to pass through yongxingji, he saw the people on both sides of the river cheering and said, "there are no tens of thousands of old and young people. They are all worshippers. I'm so ashamed that I can't believe them." It is also said that Qianlong said, "the people on the river bank are all worshippers.". Since then, yongxingji has been changed into Yanghua Town, which has been followed up to now
