Nan'an town

Nan'an Town, a town under the jurisdiction of Dayu County, Ganzhou City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the middle of Dayu County, at the north foot of Dayu mountain and on the Bank of zhangshui river. It is the political, economic and cultural center of Dayu county. The area is 130.37 square kilometers, and the registered residence population is 85 thousand and 200 (2018). It has 10 communities and 9 administrative villages (2019). Nan'an salted duck is a traditional famous specialty, Jiayou temple tower, Meiguan and Guyi road are historic sites, known as the "tungsten capital of the world".

Historical evolution

It is named after "connecting with Lingnan, people are safe and things are abundant". In ancient times, it was called Hengpu. Zhangshui flows from west to East and crosses the south bank.

In ancient times, it was the seat of Nan'an army, Lu, Fu and Dayu county.

In 1942, Qicheng town was changed from urban area.

In 1947, it was changed into Nan'an town.

History and culture

Nan'an has a long history. Since the Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty, Zhang Jiuling dug Dayuling and built Meiguan ancient post road, Nan'an has gradually become a channel for the excellent culture and famous specialty of Central Plains to spread from south to north. There has been a grand scene of "merchants like clouds, goods like rain, thousands of feet walking, no cold soil in winter". Su Shi of Song Dynasty once praised Nan'an as "the river goes thousands of miles to the East, and Yuling comes to the first state in the South". Tang Xianzu of Ming Dynasty was born in Nan'an Chen Yi wrote three chapters of Meiling, which left a rich cultural and natural landscape for Nan'an. The Jiayou pagoda of Shuikou temple was built in the fifth year of kaihuang (585) of Sui Dynasty and rebuilt in the fourth year of Jiayou (1506) of Song Dynasty. It was approved as the first batch of cultural relics protection units in Jiangxi Province by Jiangxi Provincial People's Committee on July 1, 1957. Dongshan Zhenjue temple was built in Song Dynasty. It was rebuilt in 1324 and expanded in 1403. In May 2006, Ganzhou pagoda, Meiguan and guyidao were listed as the Sixth Batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

The residents of Nan'an town use Hakka language in xinpian Dayu dialect.

Honorary title

Nan'an town is known as "the hometown of Chinese Daphne", "the hometown of Chinese flowers and trees", "the hometown of Chinese salted duck". In November 2017, it was awarded the fifth national civilized village.
