Historical evolution
In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Sanjiao was a big commercial town in Zhongyang (Ningxiang) county. In the 1930s, it developed into the largest industrial and commercial town in Zhongyang County, more prosperous than the county. There are more than 30 wine and food restaurants alone, 8 big restaurants for daily animals and 16 for night animals. After Japan occupied the county seat, the market towns became depressed. In the mid March of 1936 (during the Red Army's eastern expedition), Zhou Enlai, vice chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, came to Sanjiao from northern Shaanxi and organized the establishment of the first red regime in Shanxi Province, which was called the Yangxian Soviet revolutionary committee. On April 14 of the same year, Liu Zhidan, the creator of the revolutionary base in Northern Shaanxi and commander of the 28th army of the Red Army, died in the battle of attacking Sanjiao again. He was killed in the dangjiazhai village, about one kilometer south of the town. In 1998, the Ministry of agriculture, the research and development center of the State Council and China specialty newspaper jointly named Sanjiao Town as "the first town of Chinese jujube". Sanjiao Town is a ferry of the Yellow River. It has been a commercial and Cultural Exchange Center for hundreds of miles since ancient times. Every time there is a meeting, merchants from Shaanxi, Gansu, Ningxia, Mongolia and other places come to trade horses, mules, grain, jujubes, fur and so on. The town is prosperous, with ancient streets in Ming and Qing Dynasties, numerous shops and merchants. In the first year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty, a commercial street and shops in Sanjiao Town were swept away by the flood of the Yellow River. More than 300 mu of water was turned into river bed. After the flood, the market reconstruction gradually moved to the hillside, forming the existing ancient shops. Sanjiao ancient town was once a place for military strategists. Li Zicheng once crossed the Yellow River to the East and went northward, leaving Chuangwang village with a long history. In February 1936, the red army launched an eastward expedition here to cross the Yellow River, which opened the prelude of going north to resist Japan. Zhou Enlai came here and personally guided the establishment of the first red regime in Shanxi Province. General Liu Zhidan shed his blood on the battlefield in the battle of Sanjiao, where his soul lies. The red scenic spots here, such as the monument to the ferry on the Ping Road of the Red Army's eastern expedition, the relief of the Red Army's eastern expedition, the memorial Pavilion for the martyrdom of General Liu Zhidan, and the memorial hall of the Red Army's eastern expedition in Sanjiao, are linked together to witness the glorious years. Sanjiao Town is named as the first town of Chinese Jujube by the Ministry of agriculture, and it is also one of the largest jujube distribution centers in North China.
