Jincheng town belongs to Jintan District, Changzhou City, Jiangsu Province. As of 2017, the town (township) has a total administrative area of 92.8 square kilometers and a permanent population of 60758.
In October 2019, Jincheng town was selected as one of the "Top 1000 towns with comprehensive strength in China in 2019".

Jincheng town is the political, economic and cultural center of Jintan District, one of the top 100 star counties (cities) in China. With an area of 92.8 square kilometers (2017) and a population of 60758 (2017), the town is a typical "land of fish and rice" in Jiangnan. Since ancient times, it has been famous for its rich products and prosperity. It has the reputation of "zhonglingyuxiu, a gathering of talents" and "Jiangdong blessed land". The famous mathematician Hua Luogeng was born here. There are Hua Luogeng Memorial Hall and Duan Yucai Memorial Hall in the city, and the famous Taoist Holy Land Maoshan is the main tourist attraction nearby.
Evolution of organizational system
Jincheng town is the political, economic, cultural and transportation center of the whole region. The city was built in the first year of Changshou (692) of Tang Dynasty, with a history of more than 1300 years. In 2005, it was rated as one of the top 1000 towns in China by the national agricultural survey team, ranking 306th. At the same time, it was rated as one of the top 100 towns in southern Jiangsu by Jiangsu Provincial Bureau of statistics.
Since 1988, Jincheng town has been merged many times. In 1998, bailongdang township was merged into Jincheng town. On January 4, 2000, Houyang Township, Chengxi Township and Chengdong Township were merged into Jincheng town. In March 2007, Hetou Town, Baita Town, Taoxi town and Jincheng town were merged to form a new Jincheng town. The adjusted area of Jincheng town is 169.9 square kilometers (excluding the entrusted area of Jintan Economic Development Zone in Jiangsu Province, the same below), with 6933.2 hectares of cultivated land and 4394.3 hectares of water. It has 32 administrative villages, 283 villager groups, 325 natural villages, 18 community neighborhood committees (including 5 rural neighborhood committees) and 672 resident groups. By 2007, the total population of the town was 185000.

Jincheng town is located in Suzhou Wuxi Changzhou torch belt, a national high-tech intensive zone. There are more than 500 industrial and commercial enterprises in the town, with complete industrial categories and reasonable industrial structure. There are more than 10 industries including machinery, metallurgy, electronics, chemical industry, clothing, food, etc., and more than 2000 kinds of products, of which more than 100 products are exported to more than 20 countries and regions such as Europe, America, Japan, etc.
The agricultural and sideline production of the whole town has begun to take shape with characteristics and scale, and the bases of pollution-free vegetables, flowers and trees, special aquatic products, livestock and poultry breeding have been built, with great potential for agricultural development.
In 2008, the town's GDP reached 6678.42 million yuan, an increase of 16%. Among them, the added value of the primary industry was 442.89 million yuan, slightly higher than that in 2007; the added value of the secondary industry was 3250.63 million yuan, an increase of 6%; the added value of the tertiary industry was 2984.9 million yuan, an increase of 33%. The proportion of the three industries was adjusted from 7.7 ∶ 53.3 ∶ 39 to 6.6 ∶ 48.7 ∶ 44.7. According to the resident population, the per capita GDP reached 52339 yuan. With the steady development of economy, town level financial resources have also been significantly enhanced. In 2008, the local general budget revenue of the whole town reached 437.12 million yuan, an increase of 16%.

Transportation and logistics
Jincheng town has convenient transportation, connecting Changzhou to Suzhou and Shanghai in the East, Nanjing in the west, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou in the north, more than 30 kilometers away from Huning Expressway, airport and Changzhou port. The built Yangli Expressway and Yanjiang Expressway run across the territory, and there are nearly 100000 program-controlled telephones connecting all over the world.
Jincheng town is located in the Yangtze River Delta economic zone plate, 1-2 hours' drive away from Nanjing, Changzhou, Zhenjiang and Yangzhou. It is adjacent to Yaotang street in the East, Zhiqian town in the south, Zhulin town in the West and erling town in Danyang in the north.
Jincheng town is rich in water resources with dense water network and rivers. Taohu Lake (also known as CHANGDANG Lake) is located 5 kilometers south of the city; Qianzidang lake is located 2 kilometers south of the city, with a water surface of about 34 hectares. DanJin Caoli river is the golden waterway of the whole city in the north-south direction; Xuebu River, Tongji River, Zhuangcheng River and Guangrong River are in the east-west direction. Jincheng town is located in the polder area, with one polder (Baoping polder) of more than 10000 mu and 11 polders of more than 1000 mu.
Jincheng town is the traffic center of the whole district. Changli highway, Zhenguang highway, Jianxi Road, Jinwu road and Jinyi Road pass through the area. Ningchang expressway was successfully opened to traffic in October 2007, rewriting the history of no Expressway in the whole town. There is an entrance and exit in Yueyang village of the town, which can reach Shanghai within 3 hours of driving. It greatly shortens the distance between Jincheng town and the international metropolis, better and faster accepts the radiation of the metropolis, and integrates into the Yangtze River Delta economic developed zone.
