Dongcheng Street is located in the north wing of Wenzhou City, the central city of southern Zhejiang and Northern Fujian, and the southeast of Yongjia County, a thousand year old cultural county. In the latest development plan of the county and city in 2011, it is included in the "one" metropolitan core area of Wenzhou City's "1650 urban and rural overall planning", and also in the "one" core urban area of Yongjia County's "13xy" urban and rural development plan.

Dongcheng District, with a total area of 102 square kilometers, is the largest street in Wenzhou and the second largest in Zhejiang Province.
