Nanling Township
Nanling township is located in the middle of Lancang County, with qianliu Township in the East, Nuozhadu town in the south, Zhutang Township in the west, menglang town in the southwest, Fubang Township and Donghe Township in the north, covering an area of 471 square kilometers, 59 kilometers away from the county. The mountainous and semi mountainous area of the township accounts for 99% of the land area. The terrain is high in the northwest and low in the southeast, with the highest altitude of 2516 meters and the lowest altitude of 800 meters. Due to terrain factors, the three-dimensional climate is significant, with no severe cold in winter and no severe heat in summer. The average annual temperature is above 20 ℃, the frost free period is no less than 335 days, and the annual rainfall is 1600 mm.

Nanling is named for its location in the south of Zijin County, where there are many mountains. In Ming and Qing Dynasties, it belonged to Nanling community, capital of Qinjiang. In 1929, it belonged to Nanling Township, the third district, and in the 34th year, it belonged to Qinnan township. At the beginning of the founding of the people's Republic of China, it belonged to the Fifth District (Longwo) and the fourth district (paozi) in May 1952. Nanling township was set up in December 1957. In October 1958, it belonged to the Soviet commune. In April 1961, it was divided into Nanling commune. In March 1963, it was renamed as Sunan commune. In January 1981, it was renamed Nanling commune. In September 1983, it was withdrawn and renamed Nanling township.
Physical geography and resources
The terrain is high in the South and low in the north, surrounded by continuous mountains. The central and northwest parts are basin shaped, and the mountainous area accounts for 91% of the township. Wudun mountain is the highest peak in the southeast, with an altitude of 1233 meters. Nanling River, which originates from tianwudun mountain, flows through the countryside from south to north, flows into the Soviet Area and Yangtou, and flows into Qinjiang River, becoming the birthplace of Hanjiang River. The Tropic of cancer passes through Wenbi peak. The climate is cool and humid, with an average annual temperature of 19.7 ℃, precipitation of 1827.7mm and frost free period of 290 days. Forest, medicinal materials, minerals, water and other resources are rich. Among them, mushroom, edible fungus, hawthorn, hyacinth, honey, pickles and Ganoderma lucidum and other local products sell well in and out of the county.
economic development
The economy is dominated by agriculture, with 8100 mu of paddy fields, most of which are Shankeng fields. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, the township carried out comprehensive management, improved farming conditions, and achieved initial results. In 1988, the sown area of rice was 12700 mu, with a total output of 35000 tons; the area of various fruits was 4400 mu, with a total output of 333 tons. The township run enterprises mainly include Liukeng hydropower station and pickle factory with an installed capacity of 1050 kW. Commerce is mainly concentrated in nanlingwei. By 1988, there were more than 50 collective commercial stores and 75 individual businesses in the township.
Infrastructure and social undertakings

By 1988, there were 1 junior high school, 9 primary schools, 270 middle school students, 1400 primary school students, and nearly 100 teaching and administrative staff, as well as rural cultural stations, radio stations, health centers, TV turntables and three film projection teams.
Historical achievements
The countryside is high in mountains and dense in forests, and the terrain is dangerous. It is easy to defend and difficult to attack, so it is a place to garrison troops. Wen Tianxiang was stationed here in the Southern Song Dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty, tongduan city was built here. Since 1927, both the workers' and peasants' revolutionary army and the Kuomintang army have been stationed here. During the long revolutionary war, the people of the whole Township made great contributions and sacrifices. Since the founding of the people's Republic of China, 24 villages have been designated as old revolutionary base areas, and the people's government has given them economic support. Scenic spots and historic sites include Wudun mountain, the highest peak in Zijin County, and the inscription of "beautiful spot of sweet spring" written by Wen Tianxiang.
