Longxi town
Longxi Town, subordinate to Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County of Chongqing, is located in the east of Pengshui Miao and Tujia Autonomous County, adjacent to Shaba township of Qianjiang District in the East, Zouma Township in the south, Yushan Town in the north, and Shaba township of Qianjiang District in the south, with a total area of 81.23 square kilometers.
During the Qing Dynasty, Longxi town belonged to Jiguan township of Pengshui County; in 2013, it was changed from Longxi township to Longxi town. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of Longxi town was 16665. As of June 2020, Longxi town has one community, seven administrative villages and Zhoujiaba people's government.
The main food crops in Longxi town are rice, corn, potato, coarse cereals, etc.; the main animal husbandry is raising pigs, cattle, sheep and poultry; the main industry is individual processing industry. In 2018, there were 5 industrial enterprises and 3 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters in Longxi town.
History of construction
Qing Dynasty, belongs to Pengshui County Jiguan township.
In 1932, Jiguan township was removed and two townships, Shuangxi and Wanling, were set up. In 1946, Shuangxi Township and Wanling Township were merged into Shuangling township.
In January 1951, Shuangling township was established as Shuangxi Township, belonging to a district.
In May 1953, it was divided into six townships: Shuangxi, Longxi, Longqiao, Laoqiao, Chaping and Wansheng.
In January 1956, the six townships of Shuangxi, Longxi, Longqiao, Laoqiao, Chaping and Wansheng merged into Longxi township.
In September 1958, Longxi township was changed into Longxi commune.
In January 1984, Longxi commune was changed into Longxi township.
In 2013, Longxi township was changed from township to town.
