Zhangdian town
Zhangdian town belongs to Guannan County, Lianyungang City, Jiangsu Province. It used to be Zhangdian township of Guanyun county. It is located in the northeast of Jiangsu Province and the north of Guannan county. In the late Ming and early Qing Dynasty, Zhang Zhi, a businessman from Shandong Province, led his brothers to set up a Hotel in Zhangdian, which is famous for its prosperous business. It is widely known as "zhangjiadian". After a short time, it naturally became Zhangdian.
Zhangdian town covers a total area of 59.18 square kilometers (2017), with 12 administrative villages, 1 community, 177 villager groups, 33172 people (2017), and 53000 mu of arable land.
The town is known as the "hometown of pig breeding" reputation, "gonggu" brand watermelon is well-known. It has won the honorary titles of civilized Township in Jiangsu Province and advanced township in safety production in Lianyungang City.
Historical evolution
The earliest history of Zhangdian town can be traced back to the early Ming Dynasty. In the third year of Hongwu (1370), Zhangdian town was established and 7 towns were located in Lingzhou south. Huize inspection department was stationed here.
Since the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Zhangdian town has been a dependency of Haizhou Zhili Prefecture;
In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Haizhou was abolished and Guanyun county was set up;
In 1929, the national government implemented the district township system, and Zhangdian township was subordinate to the third district of Guanyun county;
In the 29th year of the Republic of China (1940), it was subordinate to the second joint defense of Guandong office in Guanyun county;
In 1945, the Guandong office was abolished and it belonged to Xin'an District of Guanyun county;
In 1949, it was changed to Chenji District of Guanyun county;
In 1950, Chenji district was abolished and Zhangdian township was changed to Xin'an district;
In 1957, Xin'an district was abolished and Zhangdian township was formally established;
On March 1, 1958, Zhangdian township was changed to Guannan county;
In September 1958, Zhangdian township was renamed Zhangdian people's commune;
In January 1966, a brigade was set up from Zhangdian people's commune, and a large circle people's commune was set up with eight brigades of Chenji commune;
In 1983, the government and society were separated. The Zhangdian people's commune was abolished and renamed Zhangdian township. All the production teams in the original territory were changed into village residents;
In May 1987, Zhangdian township was changed to Zhangdian town.

Zhangdian town is located in the northeast of Jiangsu Province, the north end of the Yangtze River Delta, in the north of Guannan County, 15 kilometers away from the county. It borders beichenji town in the East, Xin'an town in the south, mengxingzhuang town in the west, and Qianzhuang Township and dongwangji township of Guanyun County across Xinyi River in the north. It's the north gate of Guannan county.
