Datong Town, one of the nine border military towns in Ming Dynasty (equivalent to today's military region), is located in today's Datong City. Jurisdiction eight Wei, seven, 583 fort. It is the northwest barrier of the capital.

Datong Town, one of the nine border military towns in Ming Dynasty (equivalent to today's military region), is located in today's Datong City. Jurisdiction eight Wei, seven, 583 fort. It is located in the south of the outer Great Wall (the northern boundary of Datong) of Shanxi Province, from Hebei Province in the east to the northwest of Datong City in the west, and to the north of Yanmenguan of the inner Great Wall. In the early Ming Dynasty, Wei tuntian was set up here as the northwest barrier of the capital. In the Qing Dynasty, Datong town governed 30 battalions, such as Shahukou Association, Ningwu, Guihua, which are now the northern part of Shanxi Province and the central and western parts of Inner Mongolia.
