Xigang town

Xigang Town, subordinate to Xiushui County, Jiujiang City, Jiangxi Province, is located in the central hinterland of Xiushui county. It is adjacent to Shanghang Township and hangkou town in the East, ma'ao town in the southwest and Xikou town in the north. It covers an area of 50.8 square kilometers and has one community, 10 administrative villages, 126 villager groups and 8 resident groups. By the end of 2019, Xigang town has a total population of 26500.

History of construction

From the 16th year of emperor Dezong of Tang Dynasty (800 years) to the end of Qing Dynasty (1911 years), it was divided into 38 capitals of Ningxian, ningzhou and yiningzhou, and 41 and 42 capitals of chongxiang.

In the early years of the Republic of China, it belonged to Yining County; in the third year of the Republic of China (1914), it belonged to Huanglong district and set up Xigang township.

In 1949, it belonged to maao district and hangkou district (part), and was divided into four townships: Zhanfang, Guanyu, Shanghu and xiuhan; in 1952, Shanghu was divided into Yanshang Township and Malong township; in 1956, xiuhan and Malong were merged into Xiuhu township; in 1958, Xiuhu and Yanshang were merged into Shanghu Township, and Zhanfang was merged into Guanyu township; in September 1958, Xigang commune was established; in March 1960, it was merged into maao commune; in June 1961, it was resumed Li Xigang commune; in November 1968, it was merged into ma'ao commune; in October 1972, it was restored; in May 1984, it was withdrawn from the commune to build a township and set up Xigang township; in April 1999, it was withdrawn from the township to build a town and changed to Xigang town.
