Chahe town is the central town in the west of Rudong County, a strong industrial town, a national key town, a key town in Jiangsu Province, a central town in Nantong, and a national top 1000 town. It was formed in the middle of Tang Dynasty from 650 to 683 ad. it was called Yanchuan in ancient times. It is a civilized ancient town with a history of thousands of years. The former Guba town is located in the west of the county, 32 kilometers away from the county. Guba, Mayang and Xinxing were merged into Guba Township in 1957. They were changed into commune in 1958, township in 1983 and town in 1995. In 1996, it covers an area of 37.2 square kilometers and has a population of 25000. It has jurisdiction over 20 administrative villages including Yuanxin, Wuxi, Tiancun, Beihe, Badong, luma, CongGang, Qiuzhuang, wangchi, Banan, Longfeng, Sancun, sanzhuang, Shegang, Xudian, Xiaodu, jiejie, Chenchi, Qixiu and Qianyao.

The former Chabei township is located in the west of the central part of the county, 35 kilometers away from the county. The town has formed a diversified enterprise group with hardware, textile, silk, clothing, chemical industry, grain and oil, packaging, arts and crafts, fitness equipment, teaching supplies and other ten pillars as the main body. Around the strategic goal of building "a regional important town, a strong industrial town, a prosperous business town, and a famous cultural town", Chahe town adheres to the combination of making a bigger and stronger regional economy with making a beautiful small town. The industrial economy has formed six economic plates, including chain processing, textile and clothing, grain, oil and feed, fitness equipment, fine chemicals, and mechanical electronics. Urban construction adheres to high starting point planning, high standard construction and high-level management. In March 2006, NANDA planning and Design Institute was entrusted to prepare the master plan of Chahe town in Rudong County (2006-2020). The planned town has a population of 50000 people and a construction land of 596.4 hectares. In July 2008, the regulatory detailed plan of 3.2 square kilometers was revised and perfected, which points out the direction for the construction of small towns in the town .

The town has formed three major industrial concentration areas with the Galaxy Industrial Concentration Area, Xinghe textile industrial concentration area and Jinqiao electronic industrial concentration area as the main body. Among them, Yinhe industrial concentration area is a demonstration industrial concentration area in Nantong, with a total planning area of 2.1 square kilometers. It has built a standard plant, nearly 400000 square meters of ancillary buildings, complete water and electricity infrastructure, and 82 enterprises have settled in the park. Xinghe textile industry concentration area is located in the north of Su 334 line and the east of Su 225 double line under construction. The total planning area of the concentration area is 1 square kilometers, and the land area of phase I is 0.4 square kilometers. Water, electricity and other infrastructure facilities are being improved, and 12 civil industrial enterprises have settled in the park. Jinqiao electronic industrial concentration area is located in the north of Su 334 line and the west of Su 225 line. The total planning area of the concentration area is 500 mu, and the land area of phase I is 100 mu. The water circuit and other infrastructure facilities have been completed.
