Historical evolution
In the sixth year of kaihuang reign of Sui Dynasty, the yuan family moved from the old city to Huaiyang. The town was established in 958 and renamed Huaiyang town from Chengguan town on December 14, 1987. On January 9, 1989, the town was expanded and merged with Yuanzhuang township to form Huaiyang town. In 1996, the town was merged with other townships and governed 29 administrative villages.
