Yawa Township
Yawa Township, belonging to Moyu County, Hotan Prefecture, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the northwest of Moyu County, adjacent to kersai Township in the East, wuerqi Township in the south, geleke wasteland in the West and Taklimakan Desert in the north, with an administrative area of 3332.24 square kilometers.

History of construction
During the Qing Dynasty, the administrative region was under the jurisdiction of karsaiming (Qianhu).
In 1919, Moyu county was designated as yawaming; in 1937, it was under the jurisdiction of the seventh district; in 1944, it was under the jurisdiction of Weixin township; in 1948, it was under the jurisdiction of Guangming township.
In 1950, it was the Fifth District of Moyu county.
In 1956, it was still the Fifth District.
In 1958, the fifth and sixth districts merged to form the red flag commune.
In 1962, the former Fifth District was set up from the red flag commune.
In 1978, it was renamed yawa commune.
In 1984, it was changed to yawa township.
