Hushu Street

Hushu street is located in the central and southern part of Gongshu District, with a total area of 2.729 square kilometers. It has jurisdiction over seven communities: zhuertan, maiyuqiao, shuangdangnong, cangjixincun, Xiawan lane, renhecang and changleyuan. The total number of households was 14222, and the permanent resident population was 35892 (2010).

Beijing Hangzhou Grand Canal passes through the territory. It is located at the southernmost end of the ancient canal. It has been known as "Ten Mile Silver Lake Villa" since ancient times and is a place where merchants gather.

General situation

Established in August 1954, the street was formerly known as chatingmiao street, which was renamed Gongshu District People's commune in 1960; it was renamed chatingmiao street in 1963; it was renamed Hushu street in 1964; it was renamed Hushu Street Revolutionary Committee in 1968; it has been renamed Hushu Street office since 1980. Hushu area is one of the earliest developed areas of ancient culture in Hangzhou. It has been known as "ten li Hushu" since Ming and Qing Dynasties. Hushu is one of the central streets in Hangzhou with an early history of organizational system, leading in reform and development, and prosperous undertakings. Hushu street, located in the south of Gongshu District, is the central urban area of Hangzhou, close to the municipal Party committee, the municipal government and the Wulin business district. The temple was destroyed in war at the end of Yuan Dynasty and rebuilt in the fourth year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty. In the 52nd year of Emperor Kangxi of Qing Dynasty, two stone pagodas were built in front of the gate of Xiangji temple. Among them, the West Tower is still a key cultural relic in Zhejiang Province. Xiangji temple in Hangzhou used to be a famous temple in the Grand Canal and Hushu area. It is the distribution center of pilgrims from Lingyin and Tianzhu. It has a high position in the canal and Hangzhou Buddhist circles. In the late Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China, pilgrims from south to North came ashore from the canal by boat. They always went to the Xiangji temple to burn incense first, stayed for one night, and then went to Lingyin (Lingyin) and Dadou Road Historic District the next day. On the west side of the canal, there is the "villa garden" which is famous for its imitation of Suzhou gardens, and the Pearl Lake, which is also the first batch of international visiting sites in Hangzhou and the experience point of Shanghai World Expo.
