Akekashi Township, belonging to Kashi City in Kashi region of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, is located in the east end of Kashi City. It is adjacent to Jiashi County across the Kizil River in the southeast, yingwusitang Township and boshikeranmu Township in the west, and Atushi city in the north. The straight-line distance between the township government and Kashi City is 38 kilometers. The longest distance from east to west is 25 kilometers, and the widest distance from north to south is 16 kilometers, with a total area of 266 square kilometers.
During the period of the Republic of China, akekashi Township belongs to yangdamanburke District of Shule County, which is akekashbao. On October 21, 2014, akekashi township was put under the jurisdiction of Kashi City. By the end of 2018, the registered residence population of AK Township in Kashi was 13080. In 2019, akekashi governs 10 administrative villages, and the people's government is stationed in akekashi village.

History of construction
During the period of the Republic of China, it belonged to yangdamanburke District of Shule County, which was akekashbao.
In 1950, it was assigned to Awati District of Shufu County as the 15th township.
In 1954, it belonged to yingwusitang district and was the tenth township.
In 1958, it belonged to yingwusitang commune and was the 13th, 14th, 15th, 17th and 20th brigade of akekashi.
In 1959, it was changed into akekashi state farm.
In 1962, after the farm was withdrawn, it belonged to yingwusitang district and became akekashi commune.
In 1964, akekashi commune was abolished, belonging to akekashi brigade of yingwusitang commune.
In 1975, it was under the jurisdiction of Kashi City.
In 1982, it was assigned to Shufu County as akekashi brigade of yingwusitang commune.
In August 1984, akekashi township was set up by five brigades and one ranch from yingwusitang commune.
On October 21, 2014, akekashi township of Shufu county was put under the jurisdiction of Kashi City, and its organizational system was retained, with administrative boundaries and government residences unchanged.
