Dongsitou township is subordinate to Pingshun County, Changzhi City, Shanxi Province. It is located in the southeast of Shanxi Province and the east of Pingshun County, with a total area of 232 square kilometers, 29 administrative villages and 6977 permanent residents (2017).
Dongsitou township is located in the west of the southern section of Taihang Mountains, which is a typical dry stone mountain area and old revolutionary base area. There are many ancient passes, terraces and fortresses. From 1940 to 1945, the CPC Taihang prefectural committee and army were stationed in the territory, which was the core area of Taihang Anti Japanese base.
Dongsitou township has inconvenient transportation and bad conditions. The main food crops are corn, potato, millet, wheat and so on. The territory is rich in iron ore reserves. After the 1980s, the mining industry and mineral processing industry became the economic pillar. In the eighth year of Jiajing reign of Ming Dynasty (1529), Emperor Jiajing ordered the establishment of Pingshun County, which belongs to Lu'an Prefecture. Today, the northern part of dongsitou township is qingyangli, the cultural township of Pingshun County, and the southern part is Xinxing Erli, Xinxing Sanli and Xinxing Sili. In 1764, Pingshun county was abolished. Today, dongsitou Township belongs to qingyangli, Pingshun Township, Lucheng County in the north and Huguan County in the south. In the first year of the Republic of China (1912), Pingshun county was restored and still belongs to Lu'an Prefecture. Dongsitou belongs to the Second District of Pingshun county. in 1915, Pingshun county was abolished and merged into Lucheng county. Dongsitou belonged to Pingshun township of Lucheng county. In May 1917, Pingshun county was restored, and dongsitou was the Second District of Pingshun county. In 1918, Pingshun County implemented District village system. Dongsitou was divided into anzui village, Xiwan village, Anyang village, shiyaotan village, Wandigou village, shiqishe village, Xianghua village, Tangli village and Sitou village in the Second District of Pingshun county. In 1937, the system of village organization was reformed, and village offices were set up. Dongsitou was divided into Xiwan village, Shiqi village, Xianghua village, shiyaotan village and CHIDI village. In September 1954, dongsitou was divided into the sixth and seventh districts of Pingshun County, and two townships directly under the county, Xiwan Township and Tangli township. In March 1956, Pingshun County adjusted its division. Dongsitou was divided into guluanpu Township, xiqiaogou Township, yanglaoyan Township, Sitou Township, shiyaotan Township, Wandi Township and Xiwan township. In February 1958, the township system of Pingshun county was divided into two types: Market Town township and general township.
