Mawu Township
Mawu Township, belonging to Kongtong District, Pingliang City, Gansu Province, is located in the southern mountainous area of Kongtong District, adjacent to Xiamen Township in the East, Huating County in the south, Jingyuan County in the West and Kongtong town in the north. It covers an area of 122.6 square kilometers.
In March 1958, Yueming township was merged into Mawu township; in September of the same year, Mawu Township and GuanLiang Township were merged to establish Xingfu commune; in December of the same year, Xingfu commune was merged into Xiamen commune. In June 1961, Mawu commune was established. In September 1965, it was divided into Mawu commune and machuan commune. In November 1983, Mawu commune was changed to township. By the end of 2018, Ma Wuxiang had 4298 registered residence population. As of June 2020, Mawu township has jurisdiction over seven administrative villages.
By the end of 2018, Mawu Township had three comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters.
Historical evolution

Mawu township is located in the southern mountainous area of Kongtong District, Pingliang City, Gansu Province. It is adjacent to Xiamen township of Kongtong District in the East, Huating County of Pingliang City in the south, Jingyuan County of Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region in the West and Kongtong town of Kongtong District in the north. It is 15.5 km long from east to west and 8.5-12 km wide from south to north. Mawu village, where the township government is located, is 23 km away from the urban area. The total administrative area of the township is 122.6 square kilometers.
topographic features
Mawu Township and Kongtong mountain come down in one continuous line and face each other across the ditch. The terrain in the territory is slightly higher in the northwest and lower in the southeast. There are 8 streams with a total length of 39 km. The ground elevation is 1870-2230 meters, the highest point is located at 3 Du wujiamao of yangjiashan, 2230 meters above sea level, and the lowest point is located at yuemingshe of Yueming village, 1870 meters above sea level. It is surrounded by mountains and ravines, with an altitude of 1800-2230 meters. The highest point is only 4 meters lower than Taitong mountain, the highest peak in Pingliang.
