Hongwansi Town, subordinate to Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, Zhangye City, Gansu Province, is located in the middle of Sunan Yugur Autonomous County, the middle of Hexi Corridor, the north foot of Qilian Mountain, the junction of Kangle Township in the southeast and Dahe Township in the northwest. It covers an area of 5.2 square kilometers. In 2018, the registered residence of Hong Wan temple was 9073.

In April 1985, the town was built. As of June 2020, hongwansi town has jurisdiction over three communities, and the people's Government of hongwansi town is located at No. 26, Huangcheng road.

Historical evolution

In April 1985, the town was built. Before the founding of the Autonomous County, there used to be a Tibetan Buddhist Zen Fawang temple, which belonged to eight Yugur families in the West. Because of the red peak in the northwest of the temple, it was called "Hongwan Temple".
