Sitan Township
Sitan Township, belonging to Jingtai County, Baiyin City, Gansu Province, is located in the west of Jingtai County, bordering yitiaoshan town and Xiquan town in the East, shoulushan town and Zhenglu town and Xiquan town in the south, Tianzhu County and Gulang County in the west, shangshawo town and Caowotan town in the north, with a total area of 713.86 square kilometers.
In 1739, hongshuishui county was established under its jurisdiction; in 1933, Jingtai County was established, belonging to Yongtai District of Jingtai County; in 1984, Sitan commune was changed into Sitan township. By the end of 2018, the population of Si Tan Township registered residence was 19180. In June 2020, 15 administrative villages will be under the jurisdiction of Sitan township.
In 2011, there were 21 commercial retail outlets and 27 employees in Sitan township. In 2018, there were 31 comprehensive stores or supermarkets with a business area of more than 50 square meters in Sitan township.
History of construction
In 1739, the fourth year of Qianlong reign of Qing Dynasty, hongshuishui county was established under its jurisdiction.
In 1913, it was upgraded to Hongshui County, which is still under its jurisdiction.
In 1933, Jingtai County was established by combining the jurisdiction of Hongshui county and the North District of Jingyuan County, belonging to Yongtai District of Jingtai County.
After 1949, it was the Second District of Jingtai County, stationed in Yongtai.
In 1950, it was changed into a district office.
In 1955, it was changed into Changlin district; in October of the same year, it was withdrawn from the district and merged with the township.
In 1958, the whole area of Sitan belonged to Yongtai commune.
In 1961, Yongtai commune was divided into Yongtai commune, Kuangou commune and Sitan commune.
In 1965, the three communes were merged into Sitan commune.
In March 1968, it was changed into red flag commune.
In 1971, it was renamed Sitan commune.
In 1984, the commune was transformed into a township.

By the end of 2011, Sitan Township had 15 administrative villages under its jurisdiction: 15 villagers' committees, namely Sitan, sandaoyu, xindunwan, Kuangou, Dandun, tuanzhuang, Yongtai, Yong'an, Fuzhuang, Yuchuan, Dongliang, Liuzhuang, Yongchuan, Jiuzhi and Guotai, and 53 villagers' groups.
In June 2020, Sitan Township governs 15 administrative villages: Sitan village, sandaoyu village, xindunwan village, Kuangou village, Dandun village, tuanzhuang village, Yongtai village, Yong'an village, Fuzhuang village, Yuchuan village, Dongliang village, Liuzhuang village, Yongchuan village, Jiuzhi village and Guotai village. The Township People's government is stationed in Yong'an village.

Sitan township is located at the easternmost end of Hexi Corridor, with Shoulu mountain in the South and Changling mountain in the north. The terrain is high in the southwest and low in the northeast. The terrain is two mountains with a river, mainly plain and dry. The mountains in the west of the territory, including the big and small Songshan Mountains, are the remaining veins of the Qilian Mountains, also known as the tiger mountain.

History and culture
Sitan Township, formerly known as ci'ertan, used to get its name from the fact that there were many wild Baici on the beach. The temple was built in the west of Houcun village, which is called si'ertan for short.
famous scenery
Located at the northern foot of Laohushan in Sitan township of Jingtai County, Yongtai Guicheng is 25 kilometers west of the county. It is the most representative and well preserved military castle of the Ming Dynasty along the silk road. It is also an important part of the border defense system of the great wall of the Ming Dynasty. It is a national key cultural relic protection unit, a famous historical and cultural village in Gansu Province, and a film and television shooting base in Gansu Province.
