Gaoqiao Town

Gaoqiao Town belongs to Pudong New Area of Shanghai. It is located in the north of Pudong New Area, adjacent to Wusongkou in the north, Huangpu River in the west, Yangpu District, Waigaoqiao port area and free trade zone in the East, Yangtze River Estuary in the East and Gaoxing town in the south. The total area is 38.73 square kilometers, including 6 square kilometers of urban area. The town government is located at 5118 Zhangyang North Road. By the end of 2017, Gaoqiao Town had 14 villages and 29 communities with a total population of 177875.

In 2014, Gaoqiao Town achieved a total industrial output value of 13.279 billion yuan, tax revenue of 2.272 billion yuan, local fiscal revenue of 684 million yuan, domestic registered capital of 2.327 billion yuan, contractual foreign capital of 82 million US dollars, and realized foreign capital of 27 million US dollars.

History of construction

Since the first year of Jianlong in the Northern Song Dynasty (960), Gaoqiao has been under the jurisdiction of Kunshan county.

Jiading ten years of the Southern Song Dynasty (1217), is under the jurisdiction of Jiading County.

In 1724, Yiren township was set up in the second year of Yongzheng reign of Qing Dynasty, which was still under the jurisdiction of Jiading County. In the third year of Yongzheng reign, Baoshan county was set up in the east of Jiading, and Gaoqiao county was under the jurisdiction of Gaoqiao county.

Qianlong 24 years (1759), began to set up sub defense in the town, county Cheng Gong stables set up Gaoqiao Chenghuang palace, Southeast yiwangnong.

Gaoqiao township was established in 1910, which is still under the jurisdiction of Baoshan county.

In 1928, Gaoqiao district was set up under the jurisdiction of Shanghai special city.

In 1937, Gaoqiao Town was located in the North Pudong District of Shanghai special city.

From the 34th to 38th year of the Republic of China (1945 to 1949), it was changed into 31 districts, which were under the jurisdiction of Shanghai, with Xigou in the south, Gaodong in the East and Lingqiao in the north.

Liberated on May 26, 1949, it was subordinate to Shanghai and set up Gaoqiao district.

In January 1956, the eastern suburb was built and changed into Haibin township.

In September 1958, it was subordinate to Dongfeng people's commune of Pudong County, and then to Gaoqiao people's commune. It was subordinate to Pudong county first, and then to Chuansha county.

In March 1984, the township system was restored, known as Gaoqiao township.

In October 1996, it was named Waigaoqiao town in Pudong New Area.

In October 1998, Gaoqiao Town was built instead of Gaoqiao Town.

In June 2000, Gaoqiao Town and Lingqiao town were removed to form Gaoqiao Town.

Gaoqiao Town is located in the north of Pudong New Area, adjacent to Wusongkou in the north, Huangpu River in the West and Yangpu District, Waigaoqiao port area and bonded area in the East and Yangtze River Estuary, and Gaoxing town in the south, with a total area of 38.73 square kilometers.
