In January 1944, it belonged to shuanghuyu District of Zizhou County, with jurisdiction over 6 townships, 25 administrative villages and 97 natural villages.

In 1952, it belongs to shuanghuyu Township, the Sixth District of Zizhou county (caojiajian belongs to Miaojiaping District).

In December 1958, shuanghuyu commune was established and merged into Suide County with Zizhou county.

In 1984, it was renamed shuanghuyu town.

On June 28, 2015, Shaanxi Province adjusted the township administrative division, abolished shuanghuyu town in Zizhou County, and established shuanghuyu sub district office.
