Historical evolution

The natural village where the town government is located is named Lianshui village on the Bank of Lianshui River.

Originally under the jurisdiction of Baocheng county.

At the end of 1958, Lianshui management area was incorporated into Hanzhong city with the withdrawal of county.

In September 1961, it was transferred to Nanzheng County and changed into Lianshui commune.

In 1984, it was changed to Lianshui township.

In 1996, Lianshui Township and Tuandai Township were merged into Lianshui town.
