Baimatan town
Baimatan town belongs to Huanglong County, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. Located in the southeast mountain area of Huanglong County, it is the source of water, at the foot of Guanshan. It is adjacent to Xuefeng township of Hancheng in the East, huangfuzhuang town of Heyang County of Weinan City in the south, Shibao town in the southwest, and Getai Township in the north of Daling mountains. The maximum distance from east to west is 25.2 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 29.4 km, with a total area of 453.07 square kilometers.
Baimatan town has a national 3A scenic spot, one shendaoling scenic spot and one Nanchi temple.
As of June 2020, baimatan town has one community and eight administrative villages. As of 2018, the population of Baima town registered residence was 6916. In 2011, the total agricultural output value of baimatan town was 55.236 million yuan, and the per capita net income of farmers was 4419 yuan.
Historical evolution
In ancient times, it was a pastureland with a lot of white horses. The town is named after the village.
In 1935, it was under the jurisdiction of Qibao and Babao in Fuyuan Township, Hancheng County, and Jiubao in Xuefeng township.
In 1948, it was incorporated into the first district of Huanglong county.
In 1952, it was divided into some townships from jiangjunmiao district.
In 1956, it was reduced to five townships.
In 1958, Jiaolong commune was established under the original name of baimatan Jiaolong town. In the same year, Jiaolong commune, Yuejin commune, rocket commune and Jinxing commune were merged into "baimatan commune".
In 1959, due to the abolition of the organizational system of Huanglong County, it was transferred to Hancheng county.
In 1961, Huanglong county system was restored, and Baiyu, Shimen and Hongshiya were designated.
In 1964, Shimen commune was incorporated into baimatan commune.
In July 1984, it was changed into baimatan township; in October of the same year, it was changed into baimatan town.
In 2011, Boyu township was abolished and merged into baimatan town.
