Yellow River snakequ National Geopark
Serpentine, that is, it is scoured by rivers to form a serpentine geological landform.
When the Yellow River flows through the Grand Canyon of Qin and Jin Dynasties, from Yanshuiguan in Yanchuan County, large and deep embedded whirlpool Bay, yanshuiwan, fusiwan, qiankunwan and Qingshuiwan are formed successively, which are the snakeheads of Yanchuan Yellow River. They are the largest, best preserved and most dense snakeheads in the mainstream of China. Here, the Yellow river meanders through the Grand Canyon, changing its old roaring fury and showing its feminine beauty. It is about 50 kilometers long from north to South and 1-5 kilometers wide from east to west, with a total area of 170.5 square kilometers. The main geological relics are 56.2 square kilometers. Approved by the Ministry of land and resources as the fourth batch of national geoparks, it has become one of the four national geoparks in Shaanxi Province (the other three are Cuihua Mountain, Luochuan Loess National Geopark and Yichuan Hukou Waterfall National Geopark).
Yanchuan Yellow River serpentine National Geopark is a typical model of thematic Geopark, which is characterized by the magnificent landscape of meandering river and relies on various types of river geological relics. It is mainly the geological relic landscape formed by the erosion of the Yellow River and its surrounding tributaries, surface flow and subsurface flow, as well as the geological relic landscape formed under the action of gravity, water and wind. It has high academic value and tourism value for the study of the development and evolution of the middle reaches of the Yellow River, the changes of the loess plateau environment, and the hydraulic erosion model of the Yellow River Valley.
