Yanhewan town belongs to Ansai District, Yan'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is located in the southwest of Ansai District, bordering Fengzhuang Township, Baota District, Yan'an City in the East, hezhuangping Town, Baota District, Yan'an City in the south, Zhaoan town in the West and Zhenwudong town in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 21.6 kilometers, and the maximum distance from north to south is 18.1 kilometers, with a total area of 210.92 square kilometers.

Historical evolution
It got its name because the town people's government was stationed in Yanhewan village.
In September 1937, Ansai County set up a district along the river.
In March 1956, the county was changed to Yanhewan township.
In September 1958, the red flag commune was established; in December of the same year, it was incorporated into Yan'an county and set up Yan'an County Yanhewan commune.
In September 1961, it was restored to Yanhewan commune in Ansai County.
In September 1983, it was changed to riverside town.
