History and culture
Yongkang Mausoleum
Yongkang mausoleum is the mausoleum of Li Hu, the grandfather of Tang Gaozu Li Yuan. It is located in houjiabao, Lingqian Town, Sanyuan County, Xianyang city. Li Hu once helped the Northern Zhou Dynasty to attack the Eastern Wei Dynasty, and was granted the title of Zhu state. After his death, he was granted the title of Duke of Tang state. After the establishment of the Tang Dynasty, Li Yuan worshipped Li Hu as emperor taizujing in the first year of Wude (618) and built an additional cemetery, which was called Yongkang mausoleum. The mausoleum is 7 meters high with a perimeter of 430 meters at the bottom. In the south of the tomb, there are still stone carvings with the style of early Tang Dynasty, such as Huabiao, Shishi, Shiren and shitianlu. The stone lion of Shinto in front of Yongkang Mausoleum (existing in Xi'an Forest of Steles Museum) has a large chest and a light engraved pattern, similar to that of Sui Dynasty. The only remaining deer in the west of the Shinto road of Yongkang mausoleum is totally different from the terrifying beasts in the Eastern Han and Southern Dynasties. It is a kind of hoofed animal image close to deer, and its character is gentle. Their function is to drive away evil and symbolize good luck. Its image imitates the real deer shape, and has more wing like lines for decoration.
On May 3, 2013, Yongkang mausoleum was listed as the seventh batch of national key cultural relics protection units by the State Council.
