Zhouyuan town

Zhouyuan Town, belonging to Chencang District, Baoji City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the north of Chencang District. It is adjacent to Muyi town in the East, Guo town in the south, Qianhe town in the west, and yinjiawu town and nandui town in Fengxiang County in the north. The maximum distance from east to west is 11.4 km, and the maximum distance from north to south is 7.4 km, with a total area of 48.50 square kilometers.

Historical evolution

It is named for its location in a corner of the ancient Zhouyuan.

In Ming, Qing and Republic of China, Zhou was originally called Zunyi Township and zunyili, which was under the jurisdiction of Baoji County.

In July 1949, Zhouyuan District, Zhouyuan Township, was set up and stationed in Nanwang village.

In 1958, it was changed into Zhouyuan commune, with 18 production teams under its jurisdiction. In December of the same year, it was changed into Zhouyuan management area of Guozhen commune.

In October 1961, Zhouyuan commune was restored, with 20 production teams under its jurisdiction.

In August 1966, it was renamed Hongyuan commune.

In October 1969, it was renamed Zhouyuan commune.

In April 1984, it was changed into a township, with 20 administrative villages under its jurisdiction.

In February 1998, the township was removed to build a town.

In October 2005, Suojia village was abolished and merged into the first village. Majiagou village was abolished and merged into Wangjia village, with jurisdiction over 18 administrative villages.

By the end of 2011, Zhouyuan town had 18 administrative villages including Wangjia, taizigou, Xiliu, Duzhao, No.1, yingzitou, Nanwang, Yazi, Wulian, Pozi, Zhongbao, Youfang, Dongwang, Houdong, Zhangxie, Gaoli, Youli and No.2, and 157 villager groups.

As of June 2020, Zhouyuan town has 16 villages (residences), including 1 community and 15 administrative villages. The people's government is stationed in Duzhao village.

Zhouyuan town is located in the north of Chencang District, adjacent to Muyi town in the East, Guo town in the south, Qianhe town in the west, yinjiajia town in Fengxiang county and Southern Command town in the north.
