Yaoqu town

Yaoqu Town, belonging to Yaozhou District, Tongchuan City, Shaanxi Province, is located in the northeast of Yaozhou District. It is adjacent to Wangyi District in the East, Yanchi Township in the southeast, Shizhu Township and Miaowan town in the south, Miaowan town in the West and Xunyi County in Xianyang City in the north, with a total area of 224.44 square kilometers.

As of June 2020, Yaoqu town has 12 villages (residences), including 1 community and 11 administrative villages. In 2018, Yao Qu town registered residence population of 17998. Historical evolution

It is said that there was a spring here in the Ming Dynasty, which was named yaochi because of its water taste.

The Ming and Qing Dynasties were under the jurisdiction of Yijun county.

In March 1939, it belonged to the four districts of Chunyao County in the Shaanxi Gansu Ningxia border region.

In October 1949, Yaoqu township was established, belonging to Yaoxian county.

In September 1958, it was under the jurisdiction of 18 production brigades; in December of the same year, it was transferred to Liulin commune of Tongchuan City and changed into Yaoqu management area.

In May 1961, Yaoqu commune was reestablished; in August of the same year, Yaoxian county was reestablished.

In April 1983, Yaoqu township was restored.

In January 1984, it was changed into a town.
