Zhongnan town is subordinate to Zhouzhi County, Xi'an City, Shaanxi Province. It is located 12 kilometers east of the county, covering an area of 65.86 square kilometers. Zhongnan town has a long history. It was formed in the early Western Zhou Dynasty. It was a vassal state. Historical evolution
Zhongnan town was formed at the end of Shang Dynasty and the beginning of Zhou Dynasty. It was named after Zhongnanshan. According to the ancient book, Zhongnan mountain is named "Zhongnan Mountain" because it is "in the middle of the sky, living in the south of the capital (Feng)" (in ancient times, it is commonly used). Zhongnan town is a famous historical town. Zhouzhi County was set up here in the first year of Emperor Wu of Han Dynasty (104 BC). Zhouzhi County was merged into Wugong County in the 27th year of Jianwu in the Eastern Han Dynasty, and restored in the 313th year of Jianxing in the Western Jin Dynasty. In 558, Emperor Ming of the Northern Zhou Dynasty set up Zhongnan County in Zhongnan town. In 567, Emperor Ming of the Northern Zhou Dynasty abolished Zhongnan county and established Hengzhou in Zhongnan town. In the same year, Zhouzhi County moved from Zhongnan town to 35 kilometers northwest of Huxian county (now Ganhe town), and soon moved back. In 574, Zhouzhi County moved from Zhongnan town to its present site. In the third year of Emperor Wen's reign (583), Zhongnan county was set up in the eastern part of Zhouzhi County, bounded by Heihe River. In 634, Zhongnan county was abolished and merged into Zhouzhi County. In 1107, the first year of song Huizong's grand view, the Qingping army was set up in Zhongnan Town, and Zhongnan County, county and county administration were set up in the eastern area of Zhouzhi.
