Tongka town
It is a town under the jurisdiction of Basu County, Changdu City, Tibet Autonomous Region.
In April 2015, it has jurisdiction over 13 village committees in Bocha village, GuDi village, Juelong village, randuo village, erjue village, Kading village, Lamba village, Panxi village, Jiba village, Yatong village, Shala village, gure village and Yaba village.
Located in the northwest of Basu County, Changdu City, Tibet, 255 kilometers away from Basu county. It is adjacent to Xiali Township with Nujiang River in the South and Guoqing Township in the East and North.
The township covers an area of 2075.07 square kilometers.
In 2017, there were 2688 people in the township.
It is a semi agricultural and semi pastoral town, planting highland barley, wheat and rape, and Grazing Yaks, cattle, goats and sheep.
Tongka temple, a historic site, was listed as a key cultural relic protection unit in Tibet Autonomous Region in 1996.

In June 1959, when Basu Zong was changed into Basu County, the government of Basu county was located in today's Tongka town. In August 1961, the county government moved from Tongka to Baima. He set up Tongka Township in 1960, changed to commune in 1974 and restored to township in 1984.

In October 1951, Tongka primary school, the first school in Basu County, was founded. It has 30 students and 2 private teachers, and has three grades. In 1959, affected by the armed rebellion, Tongka primary school was closed. In February 1960, Tongka primary school was restored with two teachers. in August 2017, Tongka town primary school has 6 grades, 12 teaching classes (2 preschool classes), 403 students and 22 teachers.
famous scenery
Tongka temple, founded in 1473 ad, is located in the seat of Tongka town government. It has made outstanding contributions to the reunification of the motherland, national unity, Tibetan Chinese cultural exchange, etc. There are precious cultural relics such as Buddha statues and embroidery in the temple.
