Gangse township was established in 1959, the commune was changed in 1975, and the township was restored in 1984. Located in the northwest of the county, 74 kilometers away from the county. It covers an area of 1004.25 square kilometers and has a population of 2576 (2017). It has jurisdiction over seven village committees: Bicang, pengxue, gangqiong, GANGDA, Jumei, LAN and Maqu. It is a semi agricultural and semi pastoral Township, planting highland barley, wheat and rape, and Grazing Yak, cattle, goats and sheep.
