Jingpo language belongs to Tibeto Burmese language family of Sino Tibetan language family. There are Jingpo dialect and Zaiwa dialect. Jingpo dialect belongs to Jingpo branch and Zaiwa dialect belongs to Burmese branch. Jingpo and Zaiwa dialects are difficult to communicate with each other due to their distant language relatives. In 1895, American missionary Tu and his wife Johnson created a set of Jingpo language based on Jingpo language and spelled in Latin alphabet. Because of the same language, this set of characters also spread to the Jingpo area of our country. After the founding of the people's Republic of China, Chinese language workers improved the original Jingpo script and created a set of Pinyin script for Jingpo people who speak the wazhi language. Now both sets of characters are widely used.
Jingpo people mainly believe in the primitive religion of animism. People believe that all things in nature have ghosts, which can do harm to people and give them good or bad. In the 17th-19th century, after the failure of the uprising, the ethnic group migrated many times, some of them entered Myanmar, and some moved to Laopai, Thailand, etc. Migration continued until the Qing Dynasty. In the course of history, Lisu People have been assimilated into many other ethnic groups.

It is the most solemn traditional festival of Lisu People. In the past, the date was determined by the observation of phenology, so there was no unified and definite Festival date in different places.
