Xiangjiang township is located in the northeast of Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, 100 kilometers away from the county. It connects Shuikou Town in the East and south, centianhe town in the west, and Dao County, Ningyuan county and Lanshan County in the north. The total area of the township is 189.81 square kilometers.

The topography of Xiangjiang township is north-south. The landform of the whole area is mainly mountainous type, with high in the north and low in the south. The highest point is located in Huanglong Mountain of miaoziyuan village in the north. It is also the highest peak of Jianghua Yao Autonomous County, with an altitude of 1923.9 meters.

Xiangjiang township as a whole is located in the north of Tropic of cancer, a subtropical monsoon climate, four distinct seasons. Because it belongs to the mountainous type, the terrain is higher than that of the western towns of the county (with gougualing as the boundary), the mountainous climate is obvious, the rainfall is more, the humidity is increased, and it is warm in winter and cool in summer.

The main rivers in Xiangjiang township are Majiang River and ZhuWa river. ZhuWa river is one of the main tributaries of Majiang river. It originates from ZhuWa formation of lazhuling village and flows through zhangmukou village, pingchongkou village and Xiangjiang village to merge into Majiang river. Majiang river originates from Huanglong Mountain in miaoziyuan. It meanders down from north to South and flows through the whole Xiangjiang Township, with a drainage area of 241 square kilometers and a length of 54 kilometers. Finally, it joins with fengshui, tuoshui and other water systems to form Xiaoshui and finally flows into Xiangjiang River. Majiang river basin is one of the main water systems of Xiangjiang River.
